Hello everyone!

My name is Monica. I’m a PhD student happily living in Berkeley, and this blog is a series of occasionally-updated ramblings about my life.

One reason I imagine you could be here is that I study psychology / computer science / neuroscience, and you could be interested in studying these excellent fields yourself. If so, I’d love to talk to you! A few years ago I put together a science outreach website where I’ve pooled some resources about being an undergraduate in science / being a woman starting out in science / starting out in the fantastic field of computational cognitive science– so please use that as a resource, and all my contact info is there!

Another reason you could be here is to learn about what college is like– I had a wonderful time as an undergraduate at Wellesley College, where I blogged for Wellesley College’s Admissions Office for four years. Feel free to check that out if that’s you :).

And for the rest of you who are here because you’re friends or family or unknown beautiful people on the internet– thanks so much for reading!

————————————– UPDATE:

This blog is now discontinued, but if you’d like to read more of my writing (albeit through a fictional character, and not in my voice) feel free to check out my new blog, Lyren :).

  1. Hey there! I’m an exchange student at MIT and one of my friends from Wellesley made me read your blog (Right from the very beginning :O ) when I asked her how life at Wellesley was, then towards the end of it I realized we both took 6.036 at the same time hahaha. Do keep writing it’s all good stuff and good luck in Cambridge! It was a pleasure reading the whole thing

  2. Hey Monica! I recently found you and your blogs whilst looking up info for the MIT CBMM/BIO MSRP program 🙂 I’m a fellow cognitive/computational “coco sci” woman scientist from down at Rice University! I love reading about your adventures and experiences with science 🙂 If you’re willing, I’d love to hear more about your experience at CoSyNe, since I’m looking to apply for the undergraduate conference grant!

  3. Hi Monica!

Hope you have a great time in Berkeley! Try not to ruin more bikes (haha!). Thanks for leaving behind your bathroom scales, the food buckets, and your leftover food! They will be put to good use. 😀 If you ever need to cross the pond to attend a conference, do stop by in Cambridge so that we can see each other. 🙂

You won’t believe how empty the house is with only Yuting and I in it. :/
